Georgia Lawn Care Worker Struck by Lightning

June 27, 2006

A Columbus, Georgia man suffered severe burns and was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital after being struck by lighting while mowing a lawn.

24-year-old landscaping and lawn care worker, Adam White, is listed in critical condition in the burn unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

The bolt came down from the sky, struck a nearby tree, exited the tree and hit White behind the ear before exiting out his lower back, Muscogee County Sheriff's Capt. Rick Kelly said. He was immediately transported to The Medical Center in Columbus, and later airlifted to Atlanta.

White's father, a sergeant with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, does not know if his son will survive.
