Jerry
Giuliano began his life in static control in 1960 making static
bars and blowers and testing power supplies for the Simco Co.
in Lansdale, PA. Following nine months in the factory, Jerry filled
the company's need for a field service technician and application's
engineer. In this capacity, he traveled around the country finding
new applications and customers and creating new products as the
needs dictated. In 1968, he spent a month and a half traveling
throughout Europe helping the subsidiary company in the Netherlands
to establish a strong market presence there. At the time, there
were only a few manufacturers of static control products and the
industries served were textile, graphic arts, pharmaceutical,
plastics, and paper, film and foil converting. The "ESD"
business was non-existent.
In 1971, Jerry joined the Custom Materials Inc.,
a Chelmsford MA company whose business was controlling static
electricity, not with equipment but with conductive plastic materials.
Their marketplace was identified as hospitals, munitions, microwave,
and the up-and-coming electronics industries. Early in 1973, the
3M company purchased Custom Materials, Inc. and looked to Jerry
to join their team in Minneapolis. Instead, Jerry worked with
the new company for several months as an independent contractor/consultant
to assist in the transition while starting Julie Associates with
his wife, Audrey.

Julie Associates was formed to serve all industries
in New England with total solutions to industrial problems associated
with static electricity. His was the first company in the USA
to focus exclusively on static control; to provide its customers
with total solutions using instruments, equipment and materials
to measure, monitor, neutralize, generate, and prevent the accumulation
of static electricity.
For the nearly 30 years since its inception, the
company has always maintained its focus on static control although,
it has evolved from a three person manufacturer's rep firm, to
distributor and manufacturer serving New England to scores of
direct and indirect people serving global needs. When they moved
from Billerica, MA to Wilmington MA (a facility that would better
accommodate their manufacturing needs) they changed the name from
Julie Associates, Inc. to Julie Industries, Inc.
"ESD"
products, particularly flooring, represent a major part of the
Julie product offering. Dave Long is the company expert in flooring
having concentrated on that segment of the business for the past
ten of his 25 years with the company. On the industrial side,
the market acceptance and demand for their "StaticSmart"
products which include static bars, ionizer blowers, vacuum systems,
and electrostatic charging systems has been directed by Jim Patterson
another long time Julie employee.

Julie Industries is a member in good standing
of the national ESD Association and has supported that effort
from its beginning. The local chapter of the ESD Association was
formed at and continues to hold its monthly meetings at "Julie".
The people that make up Julie Industries are proud to sponsor,
support and participate in numerous community activities.
