West Virginia Gas Station Explosion Kills 4

Breaking news
January 30, 2007

Four people were killed and at least 5 others were seriously injured when an explosion completely destroyed the Flat Top Little General Store gas station on Route 19 in West Virginia.

Among the injured were a paramedic and a firefighter that has just arrived on the scene in response to a report of a gas leak. No word on their condition is available at this time.

Although the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, officials suspect that a propane tank or a liquid petroleum tank is to blame.

All that is left of the Flat Top Little General Store is the twisted metal framework and a pile of debris. The explosion was felt for several miles around and brief power outages were also reported.

More on this story as information becomes available.
